Coming back - A reality we all dealt with or may at some point

Today's topic was brought to me by a long-time and very special friend Scott. Scott lives in Wisconsin and we became friends quite a few years ago. At the time, I was running and Scott was finding his renewed interest in exercise! Running seemed like a manageable exercise choice for him and so his journey began! He did pretty well with his plan and got into a routine. This was also an activity he could enjoy with his kids!! He also entered some races and improved over time. Then, as with many of us, life took on more demands of his time and running, according to a plan, did not always work out. And so the bumps in the road - the journey had some destinations that did not support a clear path.  This is normal. It can happen in our fitness journey but we can always get back on the right path..... So fast forward to a few days ago when Scott sent me a message asking how to "get it back"? He explained that as he has gotten older (we all do!!) the wheels fell off the bus

So what about this Valentine's day?!?!?!?

Here we are - the day that is either embraced or banished! VALENTINE'S DAY!! I have been single long enough to know how we "let this day get in our head" if we are single! And I have been in enough relationships to have expectations beyond my wildest dreams for "a romantic day"! Let me tell you....each played with "my head" and honestly, with my heart! So ... you may be wondering why am I writing about Valentine's Day on a "fitness/wellness" page/blog?!?!?! Because.....how we view today has an affect on "us". On "you". Where did the Valentine's Day obsession come from????!!! A little history: The origins of  Valentine's Day  are murky. We do know that the ancient Romans  celebrated  the feast of Lupercalia, a spring festival, on the 15th of February. With the introduction of Christianity, the holiday moved to the 14th of February--the saint  day   that  celebrated  several early Christian martyrs

Bringing in Wellness

Agelessly Fit - Bringing in Wellness to the topic of fitness As I have journeyed through my "fitness life" I have come to the realization that my focus was just that....fitness! I have now recognized that this was only a part of the "whole".... Fitness  refers to the physical part. ... You gain or maintain  fitness  by doing various kinds of exercises.. Wellness  is a more general term encompassing the whole being which is the mind and soul in addition to the body. Now - accepting that there is a difference in the two may seem to be a no-brainer. However, I have found, for myself. that I focus on the fitness  without acknowledging the effect that wellness has not only in my journey but also in my life. Fitness , as we know, focuses on body - strength, flexibility, cardio conditioning and nutrition (which we sometimes ignore!). Wellness encompasses so much more. It encompasses your "life"! And although this includes fitness, it is also emotional
